Do not expect any money from the other side for 40% of your lost wages or for 20% of your medical bills until your case is settled (because those amounts are included as part of your settlement).
Except for the vehicle claim, the other side will withhold all money (from you and everyone else) until you settle your case. (But, you may still have the right to receive medical or wage loss benefits from any available auto insurance on your side of the case at any time, even after your case against the other side is closed). When your injury case settles, you will only receive one check (the settlement check) from the other side which pays you (and everyone else) for everything that the "No-Fault" (P.I.P.) or "medical payments" auto insurance company has not already paid for. This means that (unlike what happens with "No-Fault" (P.I.P.) auto insurance) the other side will not pay you ITS SHARE of any of your lost wages (40%) or medical expenses (20%) (including prescription drug receipts) as those expenses are incurred. Instead, the other side will pay its share of your lost wages (40%) and medical bills (20%) by including those amounts as part of your final settlement check (which it will withhold from you until the very end of your case). The other side will not provide you with an advance of your settlement in whole or part. So, you should assume that you will have less money to spend for at least eight months after the accident and change your lifestyle and your financial habits accordingly.
