Do's and Don'ts

Exception 2 (To avoid disruption of medical care)

If you are running out of auto insurance before your medical care is over, and if your doctor threatens to discontinue your future medical care, you may use your regular (non-auto) insurance or government benefits to pay for your future medical care after your auto insurance is all used up.  If you have regular (non-auto) medical insurance or similar benefits, and are running out of money in auto insurance coverage to pay for future medical bills (this occurs only when your wage loss or medical bills exceed $10,000.00), and if, and only if, your doctor threatens to discontinue your future medical care unless you pay him or her with your regular (non-auto) medical insurance or similar benefits for amounts that are already due (and only in that event), then you may use any regular (non-auto) medical coverage or benefits you have available to pay for your continued (future) medical care (only) after your auto insurance is used up.  (Remember, you will be forced to repay your (non-auto) medical insurance company or government agency out of your share of any settlement you might get (or, if any money is left in the policy, out of your auto insurance benefits that you should have used to pay those medical bills in the first place), because money from a non-auto insurance company is only a "loan").  So, if you can continue your medical treatment with the doctor that you want without using your regular (non-auto) medical insurance or benefits (ex:  by agreeing to pay your doctor with any settlement money you get from the other side later in your case), then do not use your regular (non-auto) medical insurance or benefits to pay for continued (future) medical care.  (Remember, never use any of your regular (non-auto) medical insurance or similar benefits to pay medical bills for medical care that you have already had unless and until your good credit is threatened by doctors, ambulance companies, and hospitals that already treated you).
