No Reimbursement From Any Insurance Company For Any Upgrades In Size Or Value Compared To Your Vehicle.
If you use your own vehicle rental insurance from your own auto
insurance policy, your insurance company will only pay a certain
specified amount per day up to a certain number of days (or 80% of the
costs of a rental vehicle up to a certain dollar amount) no matter what
the actual costs of the vehicle rental really are. You pay everything
else, at least in the short term. Afterwards you and/or your insurer
may seek reimbursement from the other side. If you use the auto
insurance company on the other side to pay for a rental vehicle, then
you should only rent a vehicle that is the same size and same value of
your damaged vehicle that was involved in the accident. The auto
insurance company on the other side will not reimburse you for any increase
in rental costs which results from your decision to rent a larger or
more expensive vehicle than the one that was involved in the
collision. (This means if you have a Hyundai compact that was damaged
or destroyed in the accident, then do not rent a Rolls Royce limousine,
because you will only be reimbursed for the rental price of a Hyundai
compact, not for the price of a Rolls Royce limousine.)
