If You Must Use Your Regular (Non-Auto) Medical Insurance Or Similar Government Medical Benefits (Such As Medicaid, Medicare Or Workers' Compensation) After Your Auto
If you were hurt on the job, read paragraph #10. Your regular
(non-auto) medical insurance company or government agency may require
you to take certain action in advance of receiving medical care or
before a particular deadline. For example some regular (non-auto)
medical insurance companies require "pre-approval" or a referral before
it is obligated to pay. Workers' Compensation requires that you file a
timely claim, requires that you go to one of its doctors at least once
a year and requires that certain settlement papers be filed before the
end of a two year deadline. If you are running out of auto insurance to
pay for your continued (future) medical care (and become forced to use
your regular medical insurance or similar benefits to pay for future medical care), become familiar
with the terms and conditions of your regular (non-auto) medical
coverage or similar benefits just in case you need to use that
(non-auto) medical insurance or benefits to pay for continued (future)
medical care after all of your auto insurance benefits are all used up (and only in that event). Your failure to timely become familiar with the terms and conditions of your (non-auto) medical insurance or benefits (and your failure to timely comply with those terms and conditions) can be costly and cause delays. So, keep an eye on how much auto insurance you have left to pay at least 80% of your medical bills, and if you are running out of auto insurance, plan ahead
in obtaining "pre-approval" or a "referral" if your regular (non-auto)
medical insurance company should require "pre-approval" or a "referral"
to pay for your future medical care. But, never use any of your regular (non-auto) medical insurance until after
all of the auto insurance is used up (unless and until your good credit
is threatened by the doctors, ambulance companies, and hospitals that already treated you or unless your doctor threatens to discontinue your medical care unless the past due amounts are paid).
