We want these papers to be easy for you to understand. So in writing them, we used ordinary words that ordinary people understand. We reduced each legal principle to its simplest possible form. We intentionally left out everything unnecessary or confusing. But, we included everything that you need to know.
We know that legal principles can be complex. Often, there are limitations, conditions and qualifications. Sometimes there are exceptions to rules, and sometimes winning or losing a case is a matter of degree. As experienced lawyers, we know about these complexities. But, we did not necessarily include all of them here, because that would make these papers too long and too hard to understand. So, the information in these papers reflects a compromise between simplicity and understandability on one hand, and completeness on the other.
When the way things usually happen in real life is different from the way things should happen in legal theory, we tell you the way things usually happen in real life. So, the information in these papers is not necessary true in theory. But, it is true in real life.
